Inappropriate Things Kids Say, Vol. 2

The book my first graders are reading this week is called "Shapes Everywhere."  I'm sure you can guess that it's about finding shapes all around us.

This started a lively discussion amongst my students today.  As they looked around the classroom, they pointed out various shapes that they could see.  They pointed to their chairs, the ceiling panels, the windows, and the table we were sitting at.

Little boy A then stated that everything is a shape!  Except not our bodies.

Note to self: when you hear the word 'bodies,' just stop the conversation there.  Do not pass go, do not collect $200.  Just move on.  Nothing good can come of continuing this conversation.

I unfortunately made this note to myself a little too late.

I responded to little boy A, telling him that we can indeed find shapes on our bodies.

"Oh, yeah!" A exclaims.  "You have like round thingies," he says, as he makes a circular motion with his hands in front of his chest.

Little girl B chimes in at this point: "Yeah!  Round boobies!"

Oy.

  2. You would think so, right? But in reality, it truly was completely innocent. Definitely funny!
